If a crane track installed inside a hall extends outside the hall, the main problem consists in separating the hall part above the crane track from the external space. The solution is to use special "crane doors." In addition to the weatherproof closing of the free opening above the crane track, it is important to ensure cooperation with the cranes operating on the track. The crane door control system must intervene in the crane control system if necessary.
Optical collision protection systems must be installed on both the inner and outer sides of the crane door to prevent unwanted collisions when the door is closed. Additional sensors on the crane track are necessary to prevent accidental closing commands on the passing crane when the door is open.
The crane door can open upwards or tilt around fixed hinges. In both cases, reliable hoisting devices with dual brakes must lift the door panel, supplemented with appropriate fall protection systems.
Large doors often have safety and fire protection functions. Therefore, the door control must be connected to the fire protection system and ensure their movement during power outages (using an uninterruptible power supply or manual operating elements).
